3、h Chinese as a second language, introducing separable words is as unavoidable as it is difficult. Korean students in particular find separable words to be strange and unfamiliar because these two-syllable constructions u

4、nite verbs with their subsequent objects as single word units. From the standpoint of grammatical analysis, separable words are considered phrasal words. This paper will first consider separable words from a number of an

5、gles, including basic definition, rules and principles supplemented by interviews and questionnaires. This introduction is followed by a composite analysis of Korean foreign language students and common errors they make

6、when using separable words. The author will present causes for these errors, then suggest appropriate teaching methods for introducing this unique aspect of the Chinese language. The author believes that this paper’s ana
